CONSULTANCY & RESEARCH
The development of a new product starts with a good idea. Huss Engineering can assist with converting an initial idea into a marketable innovation. This idea is either proposed by the client, or we can work together to come up with promising ideas through brainstorming and research.
Huss Engineering emphasizes the importance of research as a starting point for each project. Depending on the scope and type of the project, our focus will be divided between user research, market investigation, studying (technology) innovations and the examination of patents and regulations. The research outcome lays the foundation for the development of a successful product
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
Good product design is meaningful, user friendly, aesthetically pleasing, producible and sustainable. Based on our clients brand portfolio and (financial) wishes we develop a solution that can be appropriately placed in the market and generate revenue. After the research outcome is summarized in a program of demands, we start generating ideas. The most promising ideas are further developed into concepts, after which a final concept is detailed in 3D CAD.
ENGINEERING
In the final stage of development our expertise in engineering and prototyping makes sure the future product is aptly detailed for series or mass production. For this we use 3D CAD software SolidWorks. If called for, mechanical calculations and other analyses are realized to meet functional requirements.
PROTOTYPING
Real size working prototypes are made to test and improve functionality and user experience. These models can be used to give a clear indication if the future product will comply with regulatory standards. Finally, a study of suitable fabrication techniques and related prices will be done to give a proper indication of cost price and tooling costs.
TOOLING & PRODUCTION
Tooling is the equipment used to manufacture the items which have been designed and engineered. In the beginning of each project we determine together with the client what options need to be explored for production. Factors of importance are: available budget, desired production price, production location and estimated numbers to be produced.
Huss Engineering has wide experience in the full scope of production techniques available from low-volume production without tooling investment to mass production requiring complex and very expensive tooling. Through our network of trusted manufacturers we can find a suitable solution for any product design and guide the tool making process, production and quality control.
